BIOSKETCH
Dr Pillay is an early career academic in the Department of Clinical Anatomy. She is the Academic Leader for Teaching and Learning in the School of Laboratory Medicine and Medical Sciences, at UKZN’s College of Health Sciences. She serves as a council member of the Anatomical Society of Southern Africa and as a UKZN Biomedical Research Ethics Committee member. Her research niche focuses on ethical frameworks that will guide research involving human remains (ie. cadavers; skeletal remains and foetal material); anatomical variations and anatomy/medical education.
Her postdoctoral research aims to provide an ethical framework that will guide research involving human remains (ie. cadavers; skeletal remains and foetal material) in order to promote research integrity and develop an anatomical research ethics environment in SA. She is a fellow of DRILL (Developing Research, Innovation, Localisation and Leadership) in South Africa [
