Designation

Lecturer

Biosketch Dr Lelika Lazarus is a lecturer in the Department of Clinical Anatomy at the University of KwaZulu Natal. She completed her PhD on the use of auto-ethnography and collaborative auto-ethnography as research approaches in the praxis and research of anatomical education. She has utilized this research method to offer significant understandings regarding the praxis and research of human anatomy within the context of educational theory. Dr Lazarus is also involved as a collaborator in a research team that is interested in the morphology and morphometry of the scapulo-humeral complex. They are involved in investigating architecture of the surrounding osteological landmarks of the scapulo-humeral complex as stability of the articulating structures is achieved through the balanced interaction of dynamic and static mechanisms which influence the integrity of the underlying soft-tissue structures.

Such studies are required to establish standard  reference “norms” of the scapulohumeral complex in the normal and pathological groups that are indigenous to South African population.  Dr Lazarus also involved in cardiovascular anatomical research in the area of aortic valves and coronary arterial circulation.
